Expunction/Expungement

Lawyer in Colleyville, Texas

Are you eligible for an expungement, also known as an expunction?

If you have been arrested in Tarrant County, Dallas County, or the surrounding areas, there are ways that you may be able to get the record of your arrest permanently erased or sealed from access by potential employers, landlords, lenders or others. If you were arrested, but never charged, or if the charges were dismissed (for any reason whatsoever), you may have a right to have the arrest deleted from your criminal record through an expungement/expunction. If, on the other hand, you either pled guilty or were convicted, and were sentenced to probation or a deferred adjudication, you can seek to prevent others from seeing any record of that criminal matter through a non-disclosure order.

At the office of Jack Byno, Attorney at Law, in Colleyville, I handle all matters related to requests for expungement or expunction of prior criminal records. I have a comprehensive understanding of the process by which you can wipe out the record of an arrest, and I can help you determine if you are eligible. I charge a flat fee of $1,000 plus filing fees for all expunction/expungement requests.

An arrest record can have a significant impact on your ability to do the things you want to do. You may be required to disclose the arrest on college or other school applications, loan or grant requests, job or license applications or when you are trying to rent an apartment.

If you were arrested and never charged, the arrest will still be a part of your criminal record unless you file a request for expunction or expungement. In this situation, you have a clear right to seek the permanent deletion of any record of the arrest. You can also seek expungement or expunction if you have been charged with a crime, whether the charges were dismissed or you were tried and found not guilty.

If, however, you have been charged and convicted, including if you pled guilty to a crime, there are still circumstances where you can prevent access to those criminal records by schools, lenders, employers and others. For more information, see our page on non-disclosure and deferred adjudication.
